THE WORD HOUSE · PUBLISHED EDITION · SOFTNESS WAS NEVER SURRENDER

After Soft Edges Holding

Founder accepted by Kavonte Jones Sr. · August 23, 2026

SCENE ONE: a quiet bedroom before sunrise.

IN FRAME: a rose stem beside work gloves.

VOICE: the Soft-Spoken Boundary.

No camera earns a private life.

REFRAIN

“After Soft Edges Holding” is a working title,

not a release claim,

not a key to protected canon.

SCENE TWO

The room admits that rest feels unfamiliar after years of proving usefulness.

A pause follows.

Nothing in the pause

is translated on somebody else’s behalf.

REFRAIN

Care may leave the room when respect does not enter.

The line stays human-sized.

The line leaves room

for another person to disagree.

FINAL SCENE

The speaker begins to close the door gently and keep it closed.

No applause enters.

No instant repair arrives.

HOLD

The blanket holds its shape across an empty chair.

Cut on ordinary light.

Keep the boundary in the credits.
